SS Ocean Phoenix
The SS Ocean Phoenix was originally built as a break-bulk vessel, the SS Oregon Mail by American Mail Line in 1964. She was converted to a container ship by APL in 1972, where she operated as the SS President Kennedy. The last conversion was to her present state as a Factory Processor in 1989 when she became the SS Ocean Phoenix, the largest fish processing vessel operating in the United States.
The SS Ocean Phoenix is a U.S. Coast Guard Inspected Vessel measuring 680 feet, making it the largest fish processing vessel operating in the United States. Propulsion is steam turbine with horse power of 22,500. The Hull is steel with gross tonnage of 17,845. The SS Ocean Phoenix has freezer hold capacity of 4,200 tons of product. The crew complement of the SS Ocean Phoenix is 220, of which 125 are processors.
